Meet A. Sal Ahani, DDS, MD
Dr. Ahani’s passion for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery was intrigued by a surgery he had to correct a facial deformity in his adulthood. He was so impressed with the fact that he had no pain, or suffering, and had such an improvement in his function and appearance that he quit his profession & business as a general contractor for 12 years, and went back to school. He attended San Francisco State University for his undergraduate studies. He then attended the University of the Pacific, School of Dentistry and graduated with top honors in 1995, and was accepted into the University of California, San Francisco, where he earned his medical degree, attended the general surgery residency, and then completed the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery training in 2002. Dr. Ahani currently holds board certifications in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Dental Anesthesiology.
Dr. Ahani’s training included orthognathic surgery (corrective facial and jaw surgery), temporomandibular surgery (jaw joint surgery), head and neck cancer surgery, facial cosmetic surgery, dental implant surgery, microneurovascular surgery, and laparoscopic surgery. He has been in private practice since that time. He practiced in downtown San Francisco for a number of years, and decided he could better serve the community in the San Mateo area, where his current practice is located.
He is also an associate clinical professor at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. Dr. Ahani currently has hospital privileges at Mills-Peninsula Medical Center in Burlingame.
